Divine Croatian wines

Croatia is a wine-lover’s dream.

Its countless varieties of wine, which have been cultivated centuries ago, provide endless variety, so everyone will be able to find a type of wine that will spoil you.
The country is home to more than 130 indigenous grape varieties, three different wine regions, and 12 wine subregions.

Plavac Mali

Plavac mali is an autochthonous wine variety whose grapes grow mainly along the Dalmatian coast, especially on the southern slopes of the Peljesac peninsula, Hvar, and Brac.
Plavac Mali from the Dingač position is known all over the world.
The carbonate soil, excellent insolation directly from the sun and the sea, gives the wine a robust tannic structure, fiery retro flavor with a high percentage of alcohol, and most often is dark red. Simply luxurious with a long finish, Dingač goes best with red meat and cheese.

Pošip

Posip, the king of white wines, is an autochthonous variety from the island of Korcula. Wine with a protected geographical origin, exceptional value, and quality has grown since ancient times. A wine of yellowish color, with a percentage of alcohol between 12% and 14%, is full and distinctive taste, with distinct aromas of peaches, figs, and dates. Its taste is an elegant balance between freshness and complexity with a long, rich finish.

Graševina

Graševina, a wine characteristic of continental Croatia, is mainly grown in the Kutjevo vineyards.
The wine is dry in style, gloriously fruity, harmonious, and elegant body structure with its straw green-yellow color and seductive scent.
It goes best with pasta, cheese, and fish and meat dishes.

Malvazija

Malvazija is an autochthonous wine variety grown in Istria.
Light and aromatic, harmonious straw-yellow wine with moderate acids and aromas of fruits, dominated by distinctive citrus notes of grapefruit blossom and pineapple. A top summer pleasure goes well with white fish or shrimp, light pasta dishes, or seafood.

Chardonnay

Chardonnay is a famous refreshing semi-sweet white wine that originates from France. In Croatia, it is grown in northwestern and northeastern Croatia.
Gold yellow wine with ripe fruit aroma of bananas and apples, harmonious and supple body structure, goes best with seafood dishes, soft cheeses, salads, and pasta. Chardonnay can also be served as a dessert wine that goes well with fruit desserts.

Babić

Babić wine, an autochthonous wine originally from Dalmatia, thrives best on the soil of Primošten with the solid sun. It is characterized by dark ruby color, dense structure, and pronounced bouquet.
Elegant red wine with a higher percentage of alcohol, medium body, and aroma of cherries and herbs goes with Dalmatian prosciutto, cheese, and grilled meat.

Grk

Grk is a scarce Croatian autochthonous variety, especially related to the sandy soil around Lumbarda on the island of Korčula. It is believed to have been brought by the ancient Greeks around 500 BC.
This unique wine is golden yellow, characterized by ripe fruit aromas with a rich, harmonious and rounded taste, with a slightly bitter finish. It goes well with white fish specialties and white meat dishes and can also be served as an aperitif.
