The attraction of the island is magnetic. The beauty and magic that Brac exudes, endless beaches, crystal clear water, and stunning shores are enough to capture your heart.
The Illyrians first inhabited the island and left behind numerous forts and mounds.
Its name seems to come from an ancient animal, the deer. In Greek was called Elaphusa, and Illyrian was called Brentista.
Its location at the foot of Vidova Gora, the highest peak (778 m) on this island, makes it the most elevated and third largest island in the Adriatic Sea.
Vidova Gora is a lookout with an epic view that you can’t afford to miss. From the top, one has access to many different landscapes, including Bol and Zlatni rat beach!
Take a swim on the most famous beach Zlatni Rat whose shape changes depending on the tides and wind. Try your hand at numerous water adventures, and walk to the Dominican convent surrounded by the sea on three sides.
Thanks to the white stone, Brac has been known since ancient times. The stone has been used for centuries to create art and can be seen in various forms worldwide — from Diocletian’s Palace in Split, the Cathedral of Trogir, the church of Christ the King in Selca, the Parliament in Vienna, to the White House in Washington. The only place you will find this ancient technique is in Pučišća in a stonemason’s school, where students learn how this natural material can be turned into beautiful pieces, sculptures, etc.
Visit the Blaca desert and its monastery carved in stone, the Dragon’s Cave near the village of Murvica, a mystical monument of priests and Glagolitic people full of reliefs in the rocks.
In Škrip, the oldest settlement on the island, you can visit the olive oil museum, for which the island is widely known and appreciated. In Sutivan, visit the catacombs, and discover Brač specialties, lamb, and hrapočuša cake. Milna is a typical small fishing village known for the beautiful bays, narrow streets, old stone houses, and baroque parish church.
An island of culture and adventure, indigenous stories, and countless experiences. Bathed in the sun and turquoise sea, it hides many magical places and beautiful beaches.
