Island Vis – unique Croatian pearl

The magical island of Vis is the most remote central Dalmatian Island.
The history of Vis dates back to the 4th century BC. when it was founded as a Greek colony by the Dorians, and at the end of the 10th century, the Venetians attacked and destroyed Vis. After the rule of Napoleon, Austria, etc., it was under the control of the former Yugoslavia, which was closed to visitors as a military zone for many years. Isolated and protected from human influence, today’s nature in Vis is more untouched and preserved than elsewhere.
In addition to its rich history, it is adorned with architecture from the Greek and Roman times. In the town of Vis, on the Prirovo peninsula, on the remains of a Roman theater, you can see the Franciscan monastery. In the eastern part of the town, in Kut, you can find beautiful Renaissance houses and churches of noble Vis families built in the 16th and 17th centuries.

Well hidden in a deep bay, between two small places Vis and Komiža, it is full of uniquely beautiful beaches, hidden coves, and caves, and the island’s interior is rich in wine roads.
Adventure lovers can enjoy cycling, diving, and discovering attractions such as sunken ships, hiking to Hum, the highest point of the island, and military tours where you can find numerous military underground tunnels and other facilities.

With narrow streets, stone houses, and unique charm, Komiža, the town where fishing was born, is also a place you must visit on the island of Vis. Along with the crystal-clear sea, numerous bays and pebble beaches, such as Kamenica, Milna, Stončica, and Stiniva (which has been declared the most beautiful European beach due to its appearance), Srebrena will quickly win you over.

Be sure to visit the treats of natural phenomena; on the island of Biševo, the Blue Cave, whose phenomenon is the blue and silver shades of the sea; The Green Cave has been protected as a geomorphological monument of nature since 1967. One of the most famous Hollywood comedies, “Mamma Mia,” was filmed on the island. Feel the charm of this island and dance to the song Here We Go Again.
